The job is to plan surveys from the start: decide what needs to be learned, design the questions and materials, and choose methods such as interviews, questionnaires, focus groups, or public opinion polls. Once a study is running, the work includes coordinating operations, watching response rates and sample reports, and working with other researchers when several surveys run at once. Findings are turned into summaries, tables, graphs, and fact sheets for clients who often help set the sample and other requirements.
