The work mixes computer-based data management with support for laboratory and survey research. That means building and cleaning large databases, checking that entries are accurate, and running descriptive and multivariate statistics. Results become tables, graphs, fact sheets, and written reports, and there is often help on manuscripts and presentations for publication. The same role can include writing small programs for analysis or data entry, setting quality-control steps, and ordinary clerical work to finish a project. A better fit for those who prefer careful data work, clear writing, and methodical checking.
