Behind the counter, the work is greeting customers, helping them find merchandise, taking in prescriptions, and ringing up cash or credit sales. Phone calls are answered and passed to the pharmacist when the question needs one. Incoming medications and supplies are unpacked, sorted, counted, and labeled, including items that need refrigeration or other special handling, then shelves and storage areas are restocked. Out-of-date stock is flagged, work areas are kept clean, and the supervisor is told when inventory runs low. Tends to fit people who want regular customer contact and a stockroom that stays in order.
