Human Resources Assistants, Except Payroll and Timekeeping
Office and Administrative Support
Personnel files are the center of the day: addresses, pay, absences, performance notes, leave, and why someone left all get recorded and checked. Paperwork for staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, and job classifications has to be processed and kept current. Employees and applicants ask about benefits, salaries, eligibility, and company rules, and the same files are used to answer those questions or to help run benefit and workers' compensation programs. New-hire orientations need to be set up, and records are pulled from other departments when something is missing. Orderly files, careful reading, and explaining rules without rushing are the usual fit.

AI & the future of this role
Employee-file updates, routine data entry, and status lookups are tasks HR systems and chatbots may take over. Sensitive access and policy judgment still count, yet much assistant-level record work looks vulnerable.
