First-Line Supervisors of Retail Sales Workers
Sales and Related
Directing the people who sell, count stock, and handle cash fills much of the day, along with assigning duties and doing floor work when shelves or shoppers need attention. Merchandise gets checked so it is priced, displayed, and working as advertised; service is watched; and staff are shown how to handle difficult sales. Purchase, sales, and requisition records are kept, and some jobs add buying, budgets, or personnel tasks. The setting is a store or department, in constant contact with both employees and customers. It suits people who like supervising a team while still doing the same hands-on retail work and tracking sales and service.
