What you might do
- Sort mail for delivery according to established routes
- Deliver mail to residences and businesses on assigned route

- Obtain signed receipts for registered, certified, and insured mail
- Report any changes in route conditions to supervisors
AI & the future of this role
While AI and robotics can automate mail sorting and even some delivery via autonomous vehicles, the last-mile delivery (especially on foot) requires human adaptability to navigate unpredictable environments and handle exceptions (e.g., package acceptance, customer interactions). However, significant portions of the role are vulnerable to automation.
