What you might do
- Transport patients to designated areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or moveable beds
- Assist in moving patients to and from operating rooms or x-ray rooms
- Maintain and stock medical supplies as needed
- Clean and sanitize transport equipment
- Transport medical equipment between departments
- Provide basic assistance to psychiatric patients as required
AI & the future of this role
While physical movement of patients requires some human care, robotic mobility aids and automated systems are increasingly capable of handling transport tasks. Cleaning and equipment handling are also highly automatable with current technology.
