Most of the time goes to designing fuel cell parts and measuring how they behave under set operating conditions. Experiments test new materials, startup procedures, and contaminant tolerance; cells are run on test stations using electrochemical methods such as cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy. Those results become operating maps, durability assessments, and material specifications, and cells that fail after service are examined to find the cause. Projects to lower cost or improve the product are planned with other engineers, suppliers, and customers. It suits people who like structured lab tests, statistical analysis of performance data, and careful written and spoken technical advice.
