Production
Blueprints and order specs dictate which parts go into servomechanisms, gyros, actuators, appliances, and similar devices, and in what order. Parts are measured with micrometers or calipers, then aligned and fastened with hand and power tools; cables, tubes, and wiring are connected to match the drawing. Finished units are inspected, tested, and adjusted until they meet tolerances; units that fail are taken apart so parts can be replaced, or packed for shipping. Name plates and identifying marks go on before a unit leaves. The role suits people who like close measurement, fitting mixed electrical and mechanical assemblies, and checking completed devices against a spec.
Typical education: High School Diploma or GED
