Typical work includes backing up data, configuring routers, installing security or firewall software, and setting access permissions for groups or individuals. Attempted or actual security breaches get analyzed and reported, and support activity is written down. Users and user groups typically report connectivity problems that need tracing and fixing. Better suited to people who like hands-on diagnosis, careful records of what changed, and talking users through network problems.
