Installation, Maintenance, and Repair
Most of the work is finding and fixing faults in pitch, speed-control, converter, and generator systems, then starting the turbine again to confirm it runs properly. Routine service also covers underground transmission lines, substations, and fiber-optic sensing and control gear. Electrical parts are tested with voltage testers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, infrared testers, or fiber-optic equipment, and structures and hydraulic systems are checked against test plans or with engineers. Climbing the tower is part of inspecting and repairing the equipment; tools and spare parts have to be kept on hand. Suits people who like systematic diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and physical work at height.
