Teaching Assistants, Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and Secondary School, Except Special Education
Educational Instruction and Library
Under a teacher's direction in a preschool through secondary classroom, the work is tutoring children one-on-one or in small groups, presenting lessons through discussion, reading aloud, or supervised role-play, and teaching social skills. Supervision covers classrooms, halls, cafeterias, yards, gyms, and field trips, plus enforcing school rules. Equipment and materials have to be used safely so students are not hurt and things are not damaged. Duties are coordinated with the classroom teacher, and classrooms are cleaned. Fits those who want a structured school day with children, a teacher's plan to follow, and a mix of instruction, supervision, and upkeep.

AI & the future of this role
Much of the day involves supervising students, managing routines, and offering in-person help that tools cannot replicate remotely. Lesson prep and worksheet support may lean more on automated drafts, yet classroom presence and trust with young learners still anchor the role.
