Members work in small teams on land, from the air, or at sea, running raids, demolitions, reconnaissance, search and rescue, and counterterrorism in combat or peacetime. Days also cover advanced reconnaissance and intelligence collection, recruiting and training friendly forces, and laying explosives on demolition targets. They locate, identify, defuse, and dispose of ordnance and operate sophisticated communications equipment. Training often adds swimming, diving, parachuting, survival, emergency medicine, and foreign languages. Suits people who want varied field work across land, air, and sea and can switch between combat tasks and training friendly forces.
