Business and Financial Operations
Checks balance sheets, income and expense accounts, and loan files to confirm assets and liabilities, and reads audit reports for weak internal routines. Investigates institutions and their transactions to enforce financial and securities laws, then writes reports on safety, soundness, compliance, and fixes for questionable conditions. Meets with directors, trustees, senior managers, lawyers, accountants, and consultants to gather facts and discuss findings, and recommends steps to keep the institution solvent and within the rules. May also plan and review the work of assigned staff. Tends to fit those who prefer detailed financial review, applying regulations, and writing up what they find.
