Environmental Compliance Inspectors
Business and Financial Operations
Goes out to sites and into records to check whether pollution, dumping, pesticides, or chemical handling meet federal, state, and local rules. Complaints and suspected violations get investigated through interviews and evidence, then a decision about what code was broken and what to do — a written notice, a hearing, or work with other agencies. Hazardous chemicals have to be stored, used, and disposed of correctly, so recognizing unsafe conditions and following safety protocols is part of the work. Findings get explained to the people involved, along with how to correct the problem. Field time, detailed rules, and careful records are what the days are built around.

On-site sampling, facility walkthroughs, and enforcement judgment still anchor much of this work. Document review and monitoring data analysis could be assisted by software, but licensed fieldwork and liability for public-health decisions tend to limit how far automation goes.
