Most of the work is keeping a construction project—structures, facilities, or systems—on schedule, on budget, and within code. That includes planning the sequence of work, estimating costs, tracking progress, assigning crews, and walking sites or reviewing reports to check quality and safety rules. Time also goes to talking through problems with supervisors, owners, contractors, and designers, and to writing or renegotiating contracts with architects, suppliers, and subcontractors. Specialized managers may focus on a trade such as carpentry or plumbing. Suits people who like coordinating many moving parts on site and in meetings, making timely calls, and holding others to a plan.
