From a command center, keeps communications, detection, and weapons systems running so air, ground, and naval forces can be controlled as one. Work includes managing the links between those forces, running surveillance and detection systems, and directing the computers used to target, fire, and launch weapons. They also write emergency plans for natural disasters and wartime, coordinate response teams and outside agencies, and judge when command-center information needs to go to senior military or government leaders. They advise on what systems can do and whether units are ready. The role suits people who like sorting incoming information and deciding what senior leaders need to hear.
