Days mix shop bench work with service calls: televisions, radios, stereo systems, and similar entertainment gear get installed, repaired, or adjusted on site or brought back for major fixes. Faults are found by calibrating and testing circuits with hand tools and instruments such as resistance meters and oscilloscopes, and by reading circuit diagrams, drawings, and service manuals. Speakers are mounted and wired to consoles; after the work, customers are shown how to use the equipment safely.
