Daily activities include operating onboard systems, conducting equipment inspections, managing in-flight procedures, and coordinating mission logistics. What you might do
- Operate aircraft communications and detection equipment
- Conduct preflight, in-flight, and postflight inspections
- Operate and maintain aircraft weapons and defensive systems
- Operate and maintain aircraft in-flight refueling systems
- Execute aircraft safety and emergency procedures
- Compute and verify weight and balance data for cargo and personnel
AI & the future of this role
While AI can assist with navigation, communication, and equipment monitoring, human judgment and adaptability remain critical for combat, emergency response, and dynamic decision-making in unpredictable environments. Physical and tactical demands (e.g., jamming enemy systems, cargo/personnel drops) also limit full automation.
